Acts 4:12 (NIV)
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved [except the name of Jesus Christ]
The creation of man was the pinnacle of God’s creation. For God created them in His own image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27) and crowned them with glory and honor (Psalm 8:5b). According to Genesis 2:7 … the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Thus, God made them perfect and they could enter into His presence anytime they wanted, they could talk to Him anytime they wished, and they could approach His throne of grace whenever they desired. They could have spent their entire lives in His presence without any effort to be made or sacrifices offered.
Even though we do not fully understand God’s plan for creating humanity, there could be many reasons why God created them. Perhaps, the primary reason why God created humanity was to glorify God, because, according to the Scripture, firstly, we are created for the glory of God (Isaiah 43:7; Psalm 100:1-5; 1 Corinthians 10:31). Secondly, we were created to have fellowship with God (Genesis 3:8-9; 1 Corinthians 1:9); thirdly, to subdue and care for the rest of God’s creation (Genesis 1:28). Nevertheless, their disobedience to God’s command caused them to lose all the privileges they were enjoying in the presence of God (Genesis 3:1-24). Not only did they lose all the privileges God blessed them with, but also, they lost the glory that enveloped them ever since they were created. Ultimately, the sin separated them from God. Thus, man fell under God’s wrath and condemnation, and was destined to die without God (Ezekiel 18:20; Romans 6:23). Man could do nothing to recover from their fallen situation. However, the compassionate and loving God made a plan to reconcile the fallen humanity. God took the form of a human being and lived among humans to make them understand the plan and purpose of God for their lives. God prepared the way for their redemption, and reconciled and redeemed their lives from the grip of sin and its power.
All the Old Testament saints had been living in expectation of experiencing the redemption plan God promised (Luke 2:29-32 [25-35]) and they were looking forward to see the prophecy come true. Now, the New Testament saints look backward to experience the fulfilled prophecy of God and attain the benefit. Galatians 4:4-7 states,
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
Thus, God sent His One and Only begotten Son, who fulfilled all God’s requirements, to reconcile the fallen humanity with God and redeem them from their fallen situation. Apostle John wrote: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). According to Apostle Paul, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (Romans 3:23-24). The prophets prophesied about His coming in the Old Testament (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7). The angels announced to the shepherds and glorified God, For there is born to you this day in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:11). During His earthly ministry, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by Me (John 14:6). The Apostles preached the ministry of Jesus accomplished through His life, ministry, and death. Apostle Paul wrote, There is one God and one mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus. Apostle Paul continued saying: Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. The Bible announces that (except through Jesus Christ), Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). In the light of this, the redemption and salvation of humanity comes through only Jesus Christ:
- Jesus is the hope of humanity
- Jesus is the hope of the downtrodden and depressed
- Jesus is the hope of the helpless and hopeless
- Jesus is the hope of the fatherless and widows
- Jesus is the hope of the orphans and destitute
- Jesus is the hope of all creation
- Jesus is the hope of the world, and
- Jesus is the One and Only Savior of the mankind
The salvation that comes through Jesus Christ delivers us from the power of the sin and death (Romans 6:23), from the eternal punishment in the hell (1 Peter 3:18-20), from all spiritual rottenness and keeps us safe for eternity (John 10:28).
Now, every person who calls upon His name is waiting for the day of their complete redemption, when they may be with God again like in the beginning. They will be saved from eternal death and will have the hope of being with Him in eternity. The Scripture says, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13). God wants everyone to live a life worthy of His calling and obey His commands. 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 states that If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
