Psalm 145:13
[Lord] Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.
Praise the Lord! I believe that the Lord God Almighty has been good to each and every one of us during the past week as His divine nature is to love and care for His creation, especially human beings who are created in His likeness and image. The Scripture declares that The Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations (Psalm 100:5). From this passage we can learn three specific and impactful truths that can shape our life in the Lord for the rest of our life on earth: the first and foremost is that the Lord is good (100:5a); secondly, His love endures forever (100:5b); and thirdly, His faithfulness continues through all generations (100:5c). This is a trustworthy promise to everyone who follows the Lord faithfully.
The Lord has blessed us with a very reassuring Scripture passage for our SftW meditation for this week, which is taken from Psalm 145:13 (mentioned above). We live in an era where nations show off with their power, authority, wealth, armed forces, stability, resources, the rule of law, internal stability and external influence, and so on. Some nations are considered as superpowers and some are considered just as ordinary nations. It doesn’t matter among which category they are counted in, one thing is verifiably true that no earthly kingdoms will stay that way for ever. We can learn from both biblical and historical perspectives that many nations who have had considered themselves as superpowers in the past have fallen short of their power and authority in the course of time and disappeared from the limelight of human history. For instance, the ancient empires like Egyptian empire, Assyrian empire, Babylonian empire, Medo-Persian empire, Grecian empire, Roman empire, and so on have faded away in the course of time. Humanly thinking, these kingdoms and empires were very dominant, powerful, and influential in every sense but they could not keep it up that way for ever. Those kingdoms come to an end and their kings were dead and their renown and names are barely remembered today. From this we can understand that no earthly kingdoms are permanent and one way or other they will all lose their power and authority in the course of time and diminish from the limelight of human history. However, the Scripture states that the Kingdom that God establishes is an everlasting Kingdom and His rule and dominion would endure through all generations, as it is stated in Psalms, which says: Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations (Psalm 145:13; also refer to: 103:19; 146:10; Daniel 2:44; 4:3).
In the present scenario in the universe, we know that there is a heaven where God lives [the Kingdom of Heaven] and an earth where we all live [the kingdoms on earth that God gave to humanity and rest of His created beings to dwell in] but when God establishes His Kingdom [that will last for ever] known as the Kingdom of God or God’s Kingdom, heaven and earth will be combined together and make one Kingdom where God and His people will live together for ever and ever, as Apostle John heard in his vision from the loud voices from heaven, who said: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever (Revelation 11:15; also refer to: Isaiah 9:6-7). God also spoke through prophet Zechariah that The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name (Zechariah 14:9). God spoke similar things through His servant Moses that I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. I am the LORD your God (Leviticus 26:11-13a). It is also reminded through prophet Jeremiah that They will be my people, and I will be their God (Jeremiah 32:38; also refer to: Ezekiel 37:27). God, being Omnipotent (all-powerful) and Omniscient (all-knowing) and Omnipresent (present-everywhere at the same time) and all-loving and compassionate, will gather together and unite His people from every nation, tribe, people and language and will reign over all as King for ever and ever (Exodus 15:18; Psalm 10:16a; 29:10). God being a Righteous and Just God-King will never abandon His people, rather, He will reign over them forever and ever (Exodus 15:8; Psalm 22:28; 47:2). The Lord whom we worship is the living God who established Himself as the everlasting King whose Kingdom will never come to an end. The Scripture states that Jesus will hand over the kingdom to God, as Apostle Paul mentioned: Then the end will come, when he [Jesus] hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. (1 Corinthians 15:24). As His chosen people, we will also [for sure] reign with Him for ever and ever (refer to: Revelation 20:6).
Dear friends in the Lord, as we conclude this week’s SftW meditation, let us know the fact that the promise to us today is that God is an everlasting God and His kingdom and dominion will never end but it will continue to exist for ever and ever through all generations and ages. God is faithful in all His promises (1 Thessalonians 5:24; 2 Timothy 2:13; Hebrews 10:23). Therefore, let hold fast unto Him and live a life worthy of our calling. May the Lord God Almighty bless us all! Amen!
